1 μύρομαι
Grammatical information: v.Meaning: `melt into tears, bewail' (Il.), later (Lyc., A. R.) also of a river `fleet' and `drip of blood'.Origin: ONOM [onomatopoia, and other elementary formations]Etymology: If orig. of the murmuring sound, as onomatop. to μορμύρω (s.v.). The connection with Lat. muria f. `pickle', Lith. mùr-stu, mùr-ti `become wet' etc. (WP. 2, 252 doubting after H. Petersson, Pok. 742) is not to be preferred. -- Here prob. also ἁλι-μυρήεις, - μυρής (on the form Schwyzer 528), ep. adjunct of ποταμός, πέτρη etc., though the exact meaning of this conventional epithet remains uncertain ('flowing into the sea?, around which the sea rustles' etc.?; not convincing Bechtel Lex. s.v.). But μυρίος, μύριοι (prop. "flowing on like the sea"?) must be kept far like πλήμῡρα, πλημυρίς in spite of Schwyzer 593.Page in Frisk: 2,273Greek-English etymological dictionary (Ελληνικά-Αγγλικά ετυμολογική λεξικό) > μύρομαι

input impedance
impedance of the input circuit measured between the input terminals under operating conditions
NOTE 1 – The impedance can be expressed in terms of admittance.
NOTE 2 – In certain instances, for example, sampling devices or self-balancing potentiometers, the impedance can be different according to the instant when it is determined, before, during or after the instant of measurement.
NOTE 3 – When the input circuit is such that the instantaneous value of the current flowing into the input terminals is a non-linear function of the instantaneous value of the input voltage under specified conditions of frequency and voltage, the combination of resistance and reactance which would absorb the same active power and in which would flow a reactive current equal to the fundamental component that is flowing in the actual input circuit, is sometimes called the "equivalent input impedance".

1) One of the major rivers in France, and the largest French river flowing into the Mediterranean. The Rhône rises in the canton of Valais, in the Swiss Alps, and flows through Lake Geneva, and the city of Geneva itself, before entering France just south west of the city. It then zigzags in a westerly direction through the Bugey area of France, as far as the city of Lyon. At Lyon, where the river is met by its biggest tributary, the Saône, it turns due south, and flows down to the Mediterranean. The mouth of the Rhone is a delta in the area of the Camargue, a short distance to the west of Marseilles. The Total length of the Rhone is 813 km. just over 500 miles. The river is navigable - with canals in places - from the Mediterranean as far as Lyon, and is a major shipping route. However the river flows relatively fast through the steep valley to the south of Lyon, and navigation is not always easy, notably when the river is in spate. The lower valley of the Rhône is a famed wine producing area, with a number of AOC vineyards, most notably the vineyards of Côtes du Rhone2) The name of the French department, no. 69, whose capital is Lyon, the second city in France, population 1.8 million.Dictionnaire Français-Anglais. Предостережение (Указывает на опасность травмы. Failure to do so may result in injury!Предотвращать - to preclude (+ noun; gerund); to prevent (+ noun); to protect against, to guard against (+ noun); to prevent from, to preclude from, to keep from (+ gerund)This high fracture strength requirement precludes designing using the R parameter.Refining operations usually preclude microbiological growth in fuels before the fuel leaves the refinery.A sleeve concentric with the tubes prevented water from flowing into the steam plenum (... предотвращая течение воды в паровую камеру).The R parameter is usually used where thermal environments are so severe that thermal stress fracture cannot be prevented even in the best materials. To guard against extraneous mass transfer, all surfaces and edges of each naphthalene plate were covered with pressure-sensitive tape.It has always been a parameter design criterion to protect the turbine against malfunction of the controls (... предотвратить отказы турбинных регуляторов).Русско-английский научно-технический словарь переводчика > предостережение
